Masayoshi Oya är en ung keramiker från Tokyo som studerat keramik vid Aichi Prefectual Seto Yogyo
och sedan 2007 vid Capellagården på Öland. Hans verk visas under hösten i Kaolins projektrum; enkla,
vackra glaserade skålar i porslin och stengodslera.
”The making of ceramics consists of two processes. One process is firing. And the other is cooling. So I
want to express like cutting in between those processes. And at that time, I ´m interested in motion and
motionlessness. So I tried to recreate those two phenomenons and mix between by using glazes. This
gives the beholder an experience of the objects melting and running down surface, colour, texture...
I express that through the bowl and the shape of the bowl. I want to express beauty in daily life and the
bowl shape combines the best properties of function and beauty.”
Oyas utställning på Kaolin är inspirerad av den japanska Zenträdgården. Där det är upp till var och en
besökare att finna vad den unika trädgården betyder - ju längre man tittar på den desto mer förändras
den av fantasin.
